Planning Minister MA Mannan on Friday urged the geologists to conduct sufficient research projects for extracting the mineral resources of the country, reports BSS.
“Through conducting and implementing the research projects on extracting mineral resources, our geologists can play effective role for the advancement of the nation. Government will provide all-out support in these cases,” he said.
Mannan came up with the call while addressing at the 70th founding anniversary programme of the Geology Department of Dhaka University (DU) as the chief guest.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was present as special guest while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the ceremony.
Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, DU Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Geology Alumni Association President Prof Dr AAM Shamsur Rahman, Dr ASM Woobaidullah, among others, addressed the programme with Geology Department Chairperson Dr Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
