Sri Sri Manikya Madhav's Rath Jatra and Rath Mela have begun in Gazipur.
The nine-day Rath Mela began on Friday in city's Rathkhola area. Gazipur City Corporation Administrator Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury was the chief guest at the meeting held at the Rath premises. Gazipur Police Superintendent Md. Jaber Sadiq, Deputy Police Commissioner Rabiul Islam and Gazipur Civil Surgeon Mamunur Rahman were present as special guests. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arefin.
Like every year, this year too, Hindus have organised this event in the Rathkhola area of the city. A circus show was held on the occasion of the Rath Mela. It will continue for 9 days.
The Rath Mela premises will have stalls selling sweets, various fruits, daily necessities and various other products.
Shopkeepers from different parts of the country set up stalls selling traditional products.
