Police seized a hijacked truck with eleven sacrificial cows and arrested a robber from the Bijoy Mela Math area of Manikganj town on Sunday night.
Police said an 11 sacrificial cow-laden truck was snatched by a group of robbers from Hemayetpur area of Dhaka district and it was being taken to Manikganj through Hemayetpur–Singair–Manikganj Highway.
At one stage, the hoodlums threw the truck driver out of the vehicle somewhere after beating him, they said. Then, the driver contracted with Singair Police Station. On information, Singair police sent messages to some key point police stations.
Manikganj police immediately set up a check post at Manikganj Bijoy Mela Math and seized the truck with all eleven cows. Police also arrested one of the dacoits, identifying him as Abdul Ahad, 25 son of Rahamat Sheikh of village Nimtola under Goaland Upazila of Rajbari district. The other dacoits were managed to flee.
