The miscreants have cut down mango trees on a two-bigha plot of former UP chairman at Debidaspur under Manirampur upazila in Jashore. The incident took place on Tuesday night.
Abdul Bari, former chairman of Monirampur Sadar Union Parishad, said that he is involved in mango farming for a couple of years. He got a bumper production last year. So he planted 105 mango plants of Bari-4 variety on his two bigha of land last year that were cut down by the miscreants in the darkness of night. The mango trees were adorned with buds.
Abdul Bari said that the mango trees in the orchard bloomed. “I don’t have enmity with anyone. I don’t understand why this happened,” he said. Rabiul Islam, deputy assistant agriculture officer, said that he had learned about the matter from the victim and suggested him to file a complaint with the police station.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station, said that necessary legal measures would be taken after investigation if they get complaint regarding the matter.
