A three-day mango fair was inaugurated in Satkhira on Saturday. The slogan of the fair is “Satkhira’s mango, the name of it is tasty Himsagar.”
The Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira Mohammad Humayan Kabir inaugurated the mango fair as the chief guest at the Khamarbari Chattar in the district in the morning. Department of Agricultural Extension Khamarbari organized the mango fair.
Deputy Director of Khamarbari of Department of Agricultural Extension, Agriculturist Saiful Islam presided over the event.
Police Superintendent of Satkhira Mohammad Motiur Rahman Siddique, Upazila Agriculture Officer M Monirul Islam and others were present at the fair.
A total of 40 verities of mango were displayed at the fair.
The better varieties of mangoes are- Fazlee, Langda, Gopalbogh, Himsagar, Khirsapat, Ashhwina, Khisanbogh, Kuapahadi, Lata Bombai, Foria, Bombai, Kohitoor, Laksmanbhog, Mohanbhog, Misribhog, etc. The mango is considered the king of fruits in Bangladesh.
Due to the influx of mangoes, sellers and buyers in the markets of Satkhira are busy with activity.
