The market for mango-based products in Bangladesh is now worth around Tk. 1,500 crore and the international demand for Bangladeshi mangoes is growing. That’s why, branding of our mangoes is very essential, said Eleash Mridha, Managing Director of PRAN Group on Wednesday.
“It’s a matter of pride that PRAN is now exporting mango-based drinks, juices, mango bar and pickle to 148 countries. Our goal is to take Bangladeshi mangoes to every corner of the world through PRAN products”, Mridha added.
The PRAN Managing Director was addressing a press conference organized to announce the country’s biggest mango festival named ‘PRAN Mango Fest’, organized by PRAN Group from July 10 at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Replying a query, Elias Mridha said “PRAN is the country’s largest buyer of mangoes.
“During the season, we collect mangoes from around 10,000 contract farmers and produce juices and drinks that are available to consumers year-round. Through this festival, we have created the event for farmers from the country’s most mango-famous districts to present the taste, tradition, and history of their mangoes to the younger generation”, he added.
The three-day festival will showcase a wide variety of locally grown mangoes, directly brought by farmers from renowned mango-producing regions like Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Natore.
All varieties of mangoes produced in Bangladesh will be showcased and sold at the event. The festival will highlight the origins, history and heritage of different types of mangoes to the young generation.
There will be various games, traditional cultural performances and live music shows to make the festival more engaging. Renowned music band ‘Warfaze’, popular singer Oyshee and other celebrated singers will perform during the cultural evenings.
Details of the event were shared at a press conference held at head office of PRAN Group in Badda on Wednesday.
The festival will run daily from 10 AM to 8 PM and entry will be free for all visitors.
Mahmudul Hasan Zisha, Head of Marketing of Agricultural Marketing Company Limited-AMCL (PRAN) said, “For the first time, we are organizing this mango festival. To make it festive for the young generation, we have arranged cultural performances, games, and many other attractions.”
Mahabub Alam, Senior Manager (Operation) at AMCL, Omar Bin Zubair, Assistant Brand Manager, and Tanjibul Hoque Tushar, Sub Assistant Brand Manager of PRAN Beverages were also present at the press conference.
