Nepalese troupe Mandala Theatre staged its play ‘Jhyalincha’ yesterday at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play was brought to the stage as a part of the first edition of the weeklong theatre festival titled ‘Bangladesh International Theatre Festival’.
Based on Kumar Nagarkoti’s short story, the play is the 51st drama production of the troupe. Conceptualised and directed by Dayahang Rai, ‘Jhyalinchha’ tells the story of a renowned author named Hasabira.
The 50-minute play features just two actors, Bijay Baral and Ranjana Oli. ‘Jhyalincha’ also features live music by Anupam Sharma and choreography by Kiran Chamling, while Anup Neupane and Rohit Poudel have designed the play’s lighting and sets.
Aiming to promote and expand the theatrical productions worldwide, Cultural Ministry, in association with BSA and International Theatre Unit, has organised the festival. Besides, the event is supported by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation.
Besides the host country Bangladesh, various troupes from Nepal, Russia, France, India, Vietnam and China are bringing their plays on stage during the weeklong festival.
