Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested one person with 30 gold bars weighing 3.5 kilogrammes worth Taka two crore from Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Rampur area in Feni on Tuesday noon.
RAB informed as a part of regular patrolling, a RAB check post was set up at Rampura on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Sensing the presence of law enforcement agency members, a private car tried to escape by evading the check post when RAB members chased the car and held Nurul Islam from inside the car. Later, the RAB members recovered 30 gold bars from inside the vehicle.
During interrogation, Nurul Islam informed, as an agent of Dutta Jewellers of New Market of
Chattogram, he was carrying
those gold bars for five jewellery shops of Feni.
Junayed Jahedi, Commander in charge of RAB-7, Feni confirmed the matter.
He informed a case will be filed with Feni model police station and the accused will be handed over to the proper authorities.
