A man was shot dead by miscreants in Chakaria of Cox's Bazar. Police said four cases, including murder were filed against him.
The incident took place in front of Azamnagar Government Primary School in Badarkali Union of Chakaria Upazila at Friday midnight, said Chakaria Police Station OC Mohammad Shafiqul Islam.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Suhayet (40), son of Nurul Aziz of Magnama Para, Ward No. 5 of Badarkhali Union, Chakaria.
Quoting eyewitnesses and locals, Shafiqul Islam said that Suhayet was returning home from Badarkali Bazar on Friday midnight with a few others. On the way, when he reached in front of Azamnagar Government Primary School, 4/5 masked men riding easy bikes opened fire on Suhayet from behind. Suhayet died on the spot.
The OC said, “Later, when locals informed about the incident, a police team visited the spot at night. At that time, the police recovered Suhayet’s body, which was shot dead.” He said the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives after an autopsy at Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
