A middle-aged man was killed by his own nephew in a clash over land dispute at Paschim Noapara of Chapila Union in Gurudaspur on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Saiful Islam (42) and son of late Abu Bakkar of the same area.
It is learnt that Saiful Islam had a long-standing dispute over land with his nephew Sohel Chowdhury, son of Md Tarajul Mirdha. Late Abu Bakar and Tarajul, father of Sohel are cousins. Victim Saiful’s elder brother Shahidul Mirdha informed that there was conflict between them over the land. Local chairman and elite of the village were informed of the matter.
According to the judgment of leading persons of the society, Saiful got 10 decimal of land in the house yard of Tarajul. On that day Siaful was making preparation to build a house in the yard. Then, five men including Tarajul with his son Sohel arrived there and started quarrel with Saiful. They bit him mercilessly. At one point, Saiful fell down and became senseless. He was taken to Moukhara Jewel Diagnostic Centre where the on-duty doctor Dr Juwel Hossain pronounced him dead. Deceased Siaful has one daughter and a son who are students of a local madrasa.
Md Udzzal Hossain, OC, Gurudaspur Than said that the body has been sent for autopsy. Legal action will be taken after receiving the post mortem report.
