A 70 years old man on Saturday was killed in a road crash on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Thana Stand area of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital. Atiqur Rahman, OC, Savar highway police station confirmed the matter.
The deceased was identified as Shubol Chondro Bormon, 70, son of late Modon Chondro Bormon, hailed from Noapara area of Ashulia in Savar.
Police sources said on Saturday morning, a passenger bus from 'Green Line Paribahan' hit the man while he stood beside the highway to cross the road and leave him died on the spot.
“We, however, detained the bus but its driver and staff managed to flee”, OC said, adding that the decision about sending the body for autopsy will be decided after discussing with the deceased's family.
