Two cousins died at Atoshkhali village in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Selim Munshi, 40, son of Khorshed Munshi, and Alauddin Munshi, 50, son of Amir Hossain Munshi, of the upazila. According to locals, Selim and Alauddin had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land for a long time. At 10:30 pm night, a group of miscreants intercepted Selim on his way home and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead.dence last night.
Shonit Kumar Gayen, officer-in-charge of Baufal Police Station, said police visited the spot.
No injury marks were found on Alauddin's body and it is not clear how he died. However, Alauddin's family claimed that he was beaten to death.
Police detained Phul Banu, Alauddin's wife, and their daughter Marjina at night for interrogation.
