Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained a Hundi smuggler with one lakh 20 thousand US dollar from Dhannokhola area of Benapole border on Saturday morning.
The detainee is identified as Jashim Uddin, 30, son of Abu Bakkar of Bahadurpur village under Port Police Station in Benapole. BGB sources said upon receiving news of a large amount of US dollars being smuggled into India through Dhannokhola border they conducted a raid there.
Jasim Uddin was detained byby them during the raid along with the huge amount of US dollar worth of Tk. one crore one lakh six thousand and four hundred. Commander of 49 BGB Battalion Lt. Colonel Selim Reza said the detainee was handed over to Port Police Station. He added that a case has been filed against the detainee under Money Laundering Prevention Act.
