Customs intelligence arrested a man along with seven gold bars and 100 grams of gold jewelry at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Thursday.
An official of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) said they recovered the gold which were wrapped in a black tape hidden inside an empty seat of a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines that came from Dubai around 8.30 am. Legal action was taken against the passenger who hailed from Chokoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district, the official said.
He said the market value of the recovered gold is around Tk 1 crore.
