In a joint operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and local police, a notorious criminal was arrested in Teknaf along with a locally-made firearm and five rounds of live ammunition.
The operation took place around 3:00 am on Monday in the Rangikhali area of Hnila under Teknaf Police Station, following a tip-off. According to Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siyyam-ul-Haque, members of Coast Guard Station Teknaf and police carried out the operation and successfully detained the suspect.
Authorities recovered one locally-made firearm and five live bullets from the scene. The suspect is known for his involvement in criminal activities in the area.
Legal procedures regarding the seized items and the detained individual are currently underway.
Lieutenant Commander Haque further stated that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to help maintain law and order across the country.
