Man held over schoolgirl’s murder in Savar

Police have arrested a man named Selim Palowan (35), a close associate to the prime accused of the schoolgirl’s murder case of Savar, for his alleged involvement with the incident, by conducting a drive at Aricha area of Manikganj on early Wednesday.

Saiful Islam, Inspector of Savar model police station confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post on Wednesday morning.

The arrestee was identified as Selim Palowan (28) son of Hafez Palowan, hailed from Bagerhat district. He lives at Bank colony area of Savar. According to police, Selim is one of the most close associates to the prime accused Mizanur Rahman Mizan.

Earlier, Narayan Roy, father of the deceased Neela Roy, filed a case mentioning the name of three people including the prime accused Mizanur Rahman (21) his father Abdur Rahman (60) and his mother Nazmun Nahar (50) with Savar Model police station in this connection last Monaday evening. Besides, 3 to 4 people have been made anonymous accused in this case.

Notably, Neela Roy, a tenth grader of Savar ACED school, was brutally killed by an eve teaser on Sunday night. According to the case statement, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, the prime accused of this case, forcefully took Neela to an abandoned house at Dakkhin Para area of Savar, and randomly stabbed her, while, Neela and her brother Alok Roy were returning to home around 9:00 pm on Sunday night.

Family of the deceased alleged, Mizan brutally killed Neela for refusing his love proposal.

Saiful Islam, Inspector of Savar Model police station said, “We have arrested Selim Palowan by conducting a drive at Aricha area of Manikganj based on secret information on early Wednesday. However, operation is underway to arrest other accused of the case.”
