Police discovered a 55-year-old man's throat-slit body On Sunday night in a residential hostel under the Sadar upazila in Meherpur.
Police, however, arrested two suspected persons for their alleged involvement in killing the man for interrogation, the police officials said.
The deceased, Abdur Rahman, 55, is a resident of village Sholmari in the upazila. He was a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver. Quoting local people, Meherpur police station officer-in-charge Shaiful Islam on Monday said that the employees of the hostel got a bad smell from a room of the hostel and informed the police of the matter.
On information, a team of police went to the fourth floor of the hostel and recovered the body after breaking open the door of the room.
Later, police sent the body to Meherpur General Hospital for post-mortem examination at around 8:30pm, the police official said. A group of miscreants might have killed Abdur Rahman with a sharp weapon, he suspected. A murder case was lodged with Meherpur police station in this connection. Police arrested Pollob Kumar Biswas, 30, son of Dinbondhu Biswas, a resident of village Dobrazpur under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah and Raju Sheikh, 27, son of Mojid Ali, a resident of the village in the same upazila in the case, the OC added.
