Man fined for arranging wife’s Kulkhani

A husband was fined for arranging wife’s Kulkhani at Ulipur upazila in Kurigram on Sunday afternoon. Husband Nagir Hossain was taken to custody since he arranged death ritual for his wife, defying the government’s ban on mass gathering due to coronavirus spread.

A mobile court led by AC land Sohel Sultan Zulkernain fined Nagir Hossain Tk five thousand for violating the rules. Later he was freed after receiving the charged money. According to the mobile court source, Nagir Hossain of Kebol Krisno village of Gunaigas union under Ulipur upazila invited nearly two hundred people on his wife’s Kulkhani on Sunday. 

Being informed, assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate of Kurigram Sohel Sultan Zulkernain along with police force appeared in the spot and arrested the host. Afterwards Nagir Hossain was fined taka 5 thousand. Halima Begum (50), the accused wife died on last Wednesday.
