A 52-year-old man was killed after being crushed between two buses while crossing the road near Bakshi Bazar intersection in front of Buet in the capital’s Chawkbazar area early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Zahirul Haque, son of the late Abdul Majid of Babupara village in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district.
The accident occurred around 1:30am when Zahirul was on his way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to visit his younger son, who is undergoing treatment there for cancer, according to the victim’s sister, Cynthia Akter.
She said her brother was critically injured while crossing the road between Buet and Bakshi Bazar. He was rushed to DMCH, where doctors at its emergency unit declared him dead.
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue. The concerned police station has been informed for further action.
