A man has reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison after killing his wife in Narayanganj in the early hours on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Jamal Hossain, 35, resident of Pacchim Deobhog of Fatulla model police station, his wife Poli Begum, 28.
Poli and her husband were both second marriage and were tenant in Debhogh area.
Jamal was a tea stall bearer and Poli was a readymade garments worker. Both hailed from Mirjaganj area of Patuakhali district.
According to police, Poli Begum was hacked and beaten to death.
On information police rushed to the spot and recovered the couple’s bodies and sent Narayanganj General Hospital where attending doctors declared them dead.
Poli’s brother-in-law Akter Hossain said that they were informed earlier that a family feud has been running between Poli and her husband.
Officer in Charge of Fatulla model police station Aslam Hossain said that the killing and suicide both were committed for their conjugal dispute.
