A husband attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a sharp knife after slaughtering his wife at a rented house of Sardaganj Sultan Market area under Gazipur city corporation on Monday (December 7) morning.
The slaughtered housewife has been identified as Mohsina Akhter (30). His killer husband's name is Shariful Alam (30).
They both worked at a local Garments factory.
Dipankar Roy, Sub-Inspector of Gazipur Metropolitan Police station informed, around 7-00 AM Shariful killed his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp knife and then he himself tried to commit suicide by cutting his own throat with the knife. Local people, however, rdescued Shariful from the spot and admitted him to the hospital.
Police recovered the dead body of the victim and sent it to the morgue of the hospital. The incident was under investigation and legal action is underway in this connection, he added.
