A nurse named Hafiza Khatun (35) was killed by her husband Kabir Hossain by slitting her throat at Jibonnagar Upazila in Chuadanga. The incident took place at Ma Clinic and Diagnostic Center on Hospital Road in Jibonnagar Municipal City at 8:30 pm on Saturday.
The deceased Hafiza Khatun is the daughter of Shamser Ali of Halsana Para of Santoshpur village of Jibannagar upazila and wife of Kabir Hossain, a tiles engineer of Balihuda village of the same upazila. The deceased Hafiza Khatun was working as a nurse in that clinic for 8 years.
Meanwhile, the police raided the area and arrested killer husband Kabir Hossain from Jibonnagar bus stand within two and a half hours of the murder. At that time, the police recovered a blood-stained sharp knife used in the murder from Kabir Hossain.
On receiving the information, Chuadanga Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Nazim Uddin, Assistant Superintendent of Police Zakia Sultana (Damurhuda Circle) visited the spot.
The owner of the clinic Zakir Ahmed Shamim said, he was staying in Dhaka for 10 days on a special work. Around 8:30 pm, the nurse of the clinic, Beauty Khatun, called me and told me that she suddenly heard a noise in front of the reception of the clinic around 8:00 pm. She quickly went there and saw Hafiza Khatun's blood stained body lying there and started screaming.
At that time others came and rescued and took her to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex.
Beauty Khatun also told Shamim that Hafiza had a fight with her second husband Kabir Hussain on Saturday morning.
It is believed that her husband Kabir Hossain escaped after killing her by slitting her throat.
Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex Emergency Department doctor Ragbir Hasan said that Hafiza Khatun died before taking to the hospital. Multiple marks of sharp weapons were found on his neck and hands.
According to villagers of Santoshpur, Hafiza Khatun, daughter of Shamser Ali of Halsana Para of Santoshpur village, was first married in Sundarpur village of Maheshpur upazila. Hafiza Khatun has a daughter and a son from the first marriage. They got divorced because many reasons. Later, Hafiza Khatun got married to Kabir Hossain, a tiles maker from Balihuda village of Jibannagar upazila, one ans a half year ago.
Shamser Ali, the father of the deceased Hafiza Khatun, demanded exemplary punishment to the killer who killed his daughter.
Chuadanga Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Nazim Uddin Al Azad said that a nurse named Hafiza Khatun was killed by slitting her throat in a clinic in Jibonnagr Upazila. After the murder, the police managed to arrest the killer with the knife used in the murder within two and a half hours. The 2nd husband of Hafiza has confessed to the murder during preliminary interrogation.
