Mamata Banerjee launches mass outreach campaign


Ahead of fresh assembly elections in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced the launch of a mass outreach campaign, which includes a direct phone call to her, with a directive to her workers of her partyTrinamool Congress to go back to grassroots. "In the next 100 days, 1,000 elected party workers will go to 10,000 villages to the booth-level and meet party workers, ordinary people and eminent people in their respective areas if they are willing to meet," Mamata told reporters in Kolkata .

She said party workers will stay overnight if needed in the villages and will also have at least one meal in the village in the home of a booth level worker.," She said that in every village, at the end of the day, they will raise the Trinamool flag. Mamata said this campaign has nothing to do with assembly polls which are due in 2021.

The campaign called “Didi kay Bolo” also features both traditional and new-age media channels through a centralized phone number and the digital platform through which can directly reach out to the Chief Minister and her office. Trinamool Congress had fared badly in recent parliamentary polls in which the BJP won 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state , just four less than Mamata’s party’s 22.
