Maliha receives best ICT women entrepreneur award

Maliha M Quadir, founder and managing director of multifarious online platform Shohoz, received the Best Women Entrepreneur Award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday. The award was given by ICT Ministry at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center at the 3rd Digital Bangladesh Day 2019 ceremony.

Recognised as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Maliha is a passionate and responsible entrepreneur with a track record of promoting growth through technology and access to finance. Her contribution towards the socio-economic development of the country has been consistently recognised throughout her career. 

Previously, she had been awarded with Business Innovation Award at the American Alumni Association (AAA) Awards 2019, the prestigious DYDF Youth Icon Award (Entrepreneurship Category) 2019, and The Daily Star ICT Award and many more.

Maliha M Quadir has extensive and diverse work experiences in the global arena. She led the emerging markets digital strategy of multinational companies such as Vistaprint and Nokia from their offices in Singapore. Prior to moving into technology, Maliha honed her career in finance, having worked for Standard Chartered (Debt Capital Markets) in Singapore, and Morgan Stanley (Investment Banking) in New York and San Francisco. 

Maliha completed her MBA from Harvard Business School, and her Bachelors in Computer science and Economics from Smith College in the US. Maliha moved back to Bangladesh during 2014, and started Shohoz with a simple vision of solving the logistical challenge her country was facing. Well-established global investors believed in Maliha and her vision, and backed Shohoz by investing in the company. 

Under Maliha’s leadership, Shohoz has now become the largest online service platform in the country, providing online ticketing, ride-sharing, food delivery and truck booking services to millions of Bangladeshi consumers. Shohoz has simplified the everyday life of Bangladeshis with the help of numerous services available in their platform, creating thousands of jobs and contributing to the country's economic development.
