On average, the country sent 93,750 workers per month in 2022, while the number was around 70,000 in the pre-Covid period, according to BMET data. Reopening of the Malaysian market was a catalyst behind the growth in recent months as the country attracted the second largest number of Bangladeshi workers in a single month after Saudi Arabia.  Bangladesh exported a total of Bangladeshi 178,086 workers during January-June period of the current calendar year as against 226,150 workers recruited by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
