Make the sugar industry viable

JS body recommends

The parliamentary standing committee on industries ministry has recommended all the authorities concerned to put joint efforts to reopen the closed fertilizer factories and make the sugar industry viable.  The JS body on Monday held a meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, while the president of the committee Amir Hossain Amu MP was in the chair. 

The other committee members—industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, its state minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Parveen Haque Sikder, AK Fazlul Haque, Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, Kazim Uddin Ahmed took part in the meeting.  The committee strongly recommended immediate removal of all employees or officials working in the sugar industry who are engaged in irregularities or corruption. 

It also recommended stopping of overtime bills for the employees if and when the operation of any sugar factory is terminated and also recommended to gradually appoint the technically sound manpower in this sector. 

The committee also discussed with details about the latest work progress or condition of the 13 buffer warehouses of Chemical Industries Corporation, Karnaphuli paper mills, and printing estate project.  The industries secretary and other officials concerned were present at the meeting.
