There is a necessity for all concerned to work together to maintain the law and order immediately as a considerable increase was witnessed in the cases of killing, robbery, mugging, extortion and abduction in the last six months. We are gravely concerned about the unchecked incidents of murder and other deadly crimes in the country in recent times.
Over one hundred people were murdered in the last six months from November to April across the country, say media reports. At least two thousand and five hundred incidents of violence took place during the period.

However, police do not have any accurate statistics of how many murder incidents occurred in the country. A feeling of insecurity has gripped the people, making many of them unsafe to walk alone especially in the city’s roads, streets, lanes and by-lanes after dusk and even in the broad day light. We the people living in different metropolitan cities including the capital city may fall prey to the armed criminals anytime while we cross some places that have been earmarked as ‘hotspots of mugging’. The criminals equipped with fire arms and sharp weapons are also roaming and looting everything like money, valuables including cell phone sets, laptop other electronic devices, handbags, and ornaments from the helpless victims almost every day in the remote area.

The law enforcement agencies must increase police patrol, check posts and static security measures in the country. On the other hand, police are facing serious difficulties to trace the whereabouts of the top terrors now staying abroad. In the face of massive hunt, hardened criminals fled the country 20 years ago. Many of them changed their identities and managed to obtain citizenship in different countries.
