After being closed for two years due to the coronavirus epidemic, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held this year at the National Eidgah ground on the High Court premises in Dhaka.
To this end, like every year, the work is going on in full swing to build pandals and gate with bamboo and wood.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the main jamaat of this Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises in Dhaka at 8:30am. If the congregation cannot be held due to inclement weather or any other unavoidable reason, the main jamaat will be held at 9:00am at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Piaro Sardar & Sons, a contractor, is preparing the Eidgah ground under the supervision of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
The work of making pandals with bamboo in Eidgah field is almost finished. Awnings and triplets are being pulled in the pandal for fear of rain. Cleaning work is also going on.
The decoration work is being done in the same manner as every year. No changes have been made in the work of pandal. Only the designs of gates have been changed. In the past, gates were made of clothes. However, this year, the gate will be made of fly board (plywood).
The work of sound system with electrical connection is also going on in parallel. Ceiling fan and pedestal fan will be installed so that the worshipers do not suffer during hot weather. Mobile toilets are also being set up.
On the other hand, the law enforces are preparing for the security of the National Eidgah ground. CCTV cameras are being installed all around the Eidgah area. About 84,000 worshipers can perform Eid prayers together at the National Eidgah. Separate arrangements have also been made for women.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on May 2 or 3, depending on the moon sighting.
Due to the widespread transmission of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, it was not possible to organise Eid Jamaat at the National Eidgah ground for two years. Instead, the main congregation of Eid was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque for two years following proper hygiene rules as per government instructions.
