Magnificence of Baahubali continues

Baahubali was an epic action film from 2015. It was the most expensive film that the time of its making. Since its release, the film has gained critical acclaim and has been loved by moviegoers across the globe. The film has received several awards from the South Indian film industry and National Awards as well. 

The first film's success also led to the production of a second film titled Baahubali: The Conclusion. The franchise is considered to be a pearl in the Indian film industry considering its storyline, budget, VFX and its global reach.

Lead Cast

The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah with Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, and Nassar in supporting roles. The first of two cinematic parts, the film follows Shivudu / Shiva, an adventurous young man who helps his love Avanthika rescue Devasena, the former queen of Mahishmati who is now a prisoner under the tyrannical rule of king Bhallaladeva. The story concludes in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

Exotic Filming Locations

There have been some locations from the film which have been used as real places to shoot the film. Scenes from Baahubali were shot at the Ramoji Film City, the Western Ghats, and Golconda Fort. 

Baahubali Series Plot

The Kingdom of Mahishmati is ruled by queen Sivagami (Ramya) who is married to Bijjaladeva (Nassar). She takes charge of the kingdom when Amarendra Baahubali’s (Prabhas) mother passes away during labour. She takes care of Amarendra like her own son and ensures that he is brought up with the ability to rule the kingdom one day. Amarendra Baahubali also has a cousin brother Bhallala Deva (Rana Daggubati) who is Sivagami’s son by blood. With two sons and one kingdom to rule, Sivagami decides to test both her sons. She challenges them to win the upcoming war against the Kalakeyas and promises that whoever is victorious will be crowned the king.

After many events, we also know that Amarendra Baahubali fathered a child with his wife Devasena (Anushka Shetty). It can be assumed that Bhallala Deva, in his greed for the throne tried to kill not only Amarendra but his son as well. Sivagami, his mother, however, sacrifices her life for that of Amarendra Baahubali’s son, Mahendra Baahubali.

She emerges from a cave and makes her way to a village at the foot of the hill, where people see her jump in the river holding the baby high above the water. They save the baby, name him Shivudu. Then, he grows up to be a young man, who falls in love with Avanthika (Tamannaah). It is when he meets Avanthika, a rebellious warrior who is on a mission to save Devasena, that the secret of his life is revealed to him. Initially, he becomes a part of the mission to not lose Avanthika. However, when he is successful and frees Devasena from the clutches of Bhallala Deva, Kattappa follows him and comes to realise that Shivudu is, in fact, Amarendra’s son.

The Conclusion of Baahubali begins with Katappa(Sathyaraj) tellling us how he ended up killing Amarendra Bahubali(Prabhas).

After vanquishing the Kalakeyas, Sivagami(Ramya Krishnan) decides to make Amarendra Bahubali the future king of Mahishmati. It is decided that Bhalla Deva(Rana Daggubati) will be the Commander-in-Chief. Before the coronation, Sivagami tells Amarendra to tour the kingdom to get to know people and also promises him that by the time he is back, she will find him a suitable bride.

As the story goes on, Katappa learns of Bhallaladeva's treachery and informs Sivagami. Devasena too learns of her husband's death. She is distraught but she knows she must save her son at any cost. She puts Mahendra Bahubali in Sivagami's hands. Sivagami eyes are open; she realises that she has been tricked by her own husband and son. She picks up the newborn in her arms and announces to the people that the baby, Mahendra, is the new King.

At the end, Bhallala Deva applies all his might and deploys huge fleets to fight Baahubali. However, he is defeated after a hand-to-hand combat. Baahubali actually manages to throw Bhallala into a pit that is covered by wood collected by Devasena, who has been thristing for revenge. Bhallala deva is burnt alive by Devasena. Mahendra Baahubali becomes to new ruler of Mahishmati. Good triumps over evil and the people celebrate.
