A Feni court sent a teacher of Daganbhuiyan Model Hefz Madrassah to jail on charge of attempted rape of an 11-year-old boy of the Madrassah on Thursday.
The arrestee is Mozammel Hossain, a resident of Sharshadi union under Feni sadar upazila.
The Daganbhuiyan police station officer-in-charge Hasan Imam said that Mozammel was sent to jail through the court.
After the case was filed, 29 students of the madrassah have so far made verbal complaint that they have been sexually assaulted in the madrassah, said the police officer.
Mozammel arranged a separate room for the boy, and he later allegedly attempted to rape him on July 23, according to the police.
After two days of the incident, the victim went to her grandparent’s house and reported it.
The victim’s mother filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act with the Daganbhuiyann police station on Wednesday.
The police arrested him at the residential hall of the madrassah located in Daspara of the municipality.
Students of the Hefz department Mohammad Ibrahim and Md Naeem said, ‘Some of our teachers used to sexually assault the students. We were threatened with beatings so that we would not tell anyone about the matter.’
Another teacher of the madrasa Md Ridwan escaped as he was accused of sexual harassment of about 10 to 15 students.
