A court in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday sentenced a madrasha teacher to life-term imprisonment for raping forcibly three of his girl-child students.
The convicted person was identified as Suayebur Rahman, 52, of Kansat under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
The court also fined him of Taka 50,000, in default, five years more to suffer in jail.
Chapainawabganj district and session judge and also the judge of the Chapainawabganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Naresh Chandra Sarkar announced this verdict around 4pm in presence of the convict.
According to the prosecution story, the madrasha teacher Suayebur raped a nine-year-old girl student of the same madrasha by threatening her of physical assault on February 19 in 2022 at night.
On February 20, maternal uncle of the victim filed a case against Suayebur with Shibganj thana mentioning the rape of two other girl students in the case statement.
Investigating officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Abdul Basir of Shibganj thana submitted charge sheet against Suayebur to the court on March 12, 2022.
After hearing 11 witnesses, the court handed down the punishment.
On behalf of the plaintiff special public prosecutor Enamul Haque and on behalf of the accused Advocate Afjal Hossain conducted the case.
