Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) is an essential commodity in the cities these days with the lack of gas supplies to the homes. But, this doesn’t mean that this highly flammable and dangerous gas can be sold at the same place as regular commodities. There are some specific rules and regulations which must first be followed for trading LPG.
Moreover, there are criteria which must be met in order to suitably select a place for selling LPG. Finally, there are official licensing procedures which are different than conventional trade licenses. After all, if the points in the check list are ticked only then can LPG trading take place.

But according to reports there are various stores all across Bangladesh who don’t follow these rules and regulations and have engaged in dealing LPG to customers through non certified means. The importance of the situation is severe. This violation of the law can become a serious issue at any time. This type of scene is mostly found in the upazila level where selling of LPG takes place at grocery stores and is a reason of concern for all.
Moreover, there are reports that these dealings are done without ensuring any minimum safety measures. Under such conditions, if an accident takes place then the results would be catastrophic. In many countries including Bangladesh tragic incidents have taken place resulting in massive losses. Such examples can be taken into consideration and be used to educate those who have actively violated regulations and are selling LPG in unsafe conditions.
The authorities concerned should be more vigilant in this case as a storefront selling LPG is nothing like peddling drugs on the streets. It is done in plain view. And when such things come under notice it should be investigated and appropriate actions should be taken before any mishap takes place.
