Lowest virus deaths in 4 months

Bangladesh registered 26 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday which is the lowest in four months. The total number of deaths has reached at 27,251 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 1,555 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,544,238, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, the release added.

The current positivity rate stands at 5.67 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.32 percent.

Among the 26 deceased, 11 were men, and 15 were women. 15 of the deceased were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, two from Khulna and one each from Rangpur, Barisal, Sylhet and Mymensingh.

A total of 27,431 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.

During this period 1,565 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,503,106 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.34 percent.

As of Monday 4,707,310 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 229,380,698 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
