Lowest daily Covid infection in 18 months

Bangladesh registered 243 Coronavirus infection cases in 24 hours till 8am Thursday, lowest in over 18 months.

At the same time, 10 more died from Covid-19, taking the total number of deaths to 27,801 with the latest figure, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

A total of 16,088 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours and 243 cases have been identified so far. The current Covid positivity rate stands at 1.51 percent. 

With the added 243 cases, the total number of infected people has climbed to 1,566,907 and the overall positivity rate stands at 15.40 percent.

Among the 10 deceased, four were men, and six were women. Of the deceased, three were from Dhaka, four from Chattogram, and one each from Khulna, Barisal and Mymensingh. 

During this period 534 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,530,083 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.65 percent.

As of Thursday 4,940,316 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 242,933,467 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
