Bangladesh registered 159 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday, taking the total number of death to 24,878.
The country recorded 6,566 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 14,47,210, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
The death rate now stands at 1.72 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 17.64 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent.
Among the 159 deceased, 76 were men, and 83 were women. Of the victims, 155 died in different hospitals across the country and four died at home.
50 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 37 from Chattogram, 13 from Rajshahi, 23 from Sylhet, 12 from Khulna, 10 from Barisal, eight from Rangpur, and five were from Mymensingh.
A total of 37,226 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday.
During this period 10,153 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 13,37,181 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 92.40 percent.
As of Thursday, 4,409,745 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 210,311,360 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
