Lowest Covid deaths in two months

Bangladesh registered 102 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday, taking the total number of deaths to 25,729.   

The country recorded 4,698 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 14,82,628, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The death rate now stands at 1.74 percent in the country, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 13.77 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.87 percent. Among the 102 deceased, 52 were men, and 50 were women. Of the victims, 101 died in different hospitals across the country and one died at home.

37 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 24 from Chattogram, 13 from Sylhet, eight from Khulna, six from Barisal, five each from Mymensingh and Rajshahi, and four were from Rangpur division.  

A total of 34,111 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday. 

During this period 8,314 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 13,97,885 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 94.28 percent.  

As of Thursday, 4,480,549 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 214,938,449 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
