Lowest Covid deaths in 6 months

Bangladesh registered 12 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday, lowest ever in 6 months. Earlier on March 17 this year the country saw 11 deaths.

The total number of deaths has reached to 27,647 with the latest figure.  

The country recorded 663 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,560,818, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 2.97 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 15.78percent. 

Among the 12 deceased, six each were men and women. Four of the deceased were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, two from Khulna and one from Rajshahi.

A total of 22,321 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday. 

During this period 664 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,521,777 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.5 percent.

As of Thursday 4,842,796 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 237,178,088 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
