A week ago, low pressure was created in the sea resulting in moderate to heavy rains in almost all the districts of the country on almost every day for the last week.

On Wednesday (August 19) morning another low pressure was created. Heavy rains are likely in most parts of Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions on Thursday (August 20th) due to the apparent light pressure.

Other areas may receive light to moderate rainfall. Due to the effect of clear low pressure, warning signal number 3 has been asked to be displayed in four seaports of the country. And river ports have been asked to display warning signal number 1.

According to the meteorological office, the two-week-long downpour is likely to continue till August 26. Then the weather situation will gradually improve. Meteorologist Omar Farooq said the low pressure created in the sea turned into a clear low pressure at noon. However, the chances of depression taking shape are slim. It will cross the land by today. The effect of which may be light to heavy rainfall in three parts of the country.

Meanwhile, data from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that although the flood waters have started receding across the country, the water level at four stations is still above the danger level. The waters of Jamuna, Atrai, Dhaleshwari and Padma rivers are still flowing at a depth of 10 to 15 cm. The water of the river Ganges is rising further from the plains. The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that the low-lying areas of Manikganj, Rajbari and Faridpur will remain stable in the next 24 hours.
