Consumers in vast areas around the capital have been experiencing low gas pressure from Wednesday. People are finding it difficult to cook at home
Petrobangla authorities said that due to adverse weather conditions, it has not been possible to load LNG cargo ships into the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) located in the deep sea of Maheshkhali for the past two days.
As a result, the supply of RLNG (re-gasified liquefied natural gas) to the national grid has decreased significantly.
On Thursday, it was learned that gas supply was almost completely cut off in almost all areas of the capital, increasing the suffering of the common people.
Ratna Khandakar, a resident of the capital's Badda area, said, "There is no gas. I can't cook. Earlier, there were some problems. Now I can't get gas at all. I don't know when I will get gas. I am forced to cook on a heater."
Trisha, a university student said, ‘we hardly have gas in the morning. None of my family members can have breakfast at home before heading out to work. The gas pressure does not improve even around noon. That's why we have lunch late."
Earlier on Wednesday, Petrobangla said that due to hostile conditions, there is low gas pressure in various areas under the jurisdiction of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited and Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC.
Once the weather returns to normal, it will be possible to load LNG cargo ships into the FSRU again.
