Lovers are getting involved in Yaba business and to evade the eyes of the law enforcement agencies, they are coming up with a new strategy of smuggling yaba tablets.
A couple was arrested from a check post on the new bypass road of Patiya police station around 11pm on Friday. During this time, 18 thousand 540 pieces of yaba were seized.
The detainees were identified as Suma Akhter, 20, daughter of Mohammad Imam Hossain resident of Chandpur police station area and Mohammad Ismail Hossain Sajeeb, 21, son of Mohammad Anisur Rahman of Madan village under Betagi police station in Barguna.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Mahmudul Hasan Mamun said Suma and Sajeeb were arrested on the basis of secret information. Searching their mattresses, pillows and trolley bags 18,540 pieces of yaba tablets were found. Suma and Sajib had a love affair. During interrogation, they confessed they had earlier collected yaba from Cox's Bazar and smuggled it to different parts of the country including Chittagong. The arrested couple has been handed over to Patia police station.
