Lovers commit suicide in Naogaon

Two young lovers committed suicide on Friday at Gopinagar Adibashipara village under Patnitole upazila of Naogaon district.

Locals said that, the family members of both lovers did not agree to recognise their love. They were repeatedly rebuked and insulted by the family members. Failing to bear the insult, repeated grudge, resentment and scolding from the near and dear ones, both the young lovers committed suicide by hanging themselves with the same rope.

Police recovered the bodies of both the young from the spot. 

The deceased were identified as Joy, 17, son of Sudish and Kajali Murmu, 16, daughter of Francis of village Gopinagar Adibashipara.

According to sources, Joy and Kajoli were neigbours and lived in the same village. They loved one another deeply. But, none of the family members agreed to accept their relation. 

On Friday evening there was a quarrel among two family members and Joy and Kajoli were rebuked vehemently for their relation. Being disgusted and dishonoured, Joy and Kajoli committed suicide. 

On Saturday morning, villagers watched the dead bodies hanging from the tree and informed the police. 

Parimal Kumar Chatterjee, Officer-in-charge of Patnitola police station informed, the young lovers committed suicide, as both family members did not accept their relation. 


Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent those to the morgue of Naogaon Sadar hospital for autopsy. A case has been filed with the police station in this connection.
