Especially for Dhaka film, the year 2020 did not go well at all. According to various surveys, this is the lowest number of films released since independence. That number is only 16!

According to the critics, out of these 16, except for a few, the rest were very bad! At the beginning and end of the year, the general public was also annoyed by these dishonourable pictures.

The year 2020 started with the picture 'Joy Nagar Er Zamindar'. The film was released on January 10 under the direction of M Sakhawat Hossain. Farzana starred in the film with model Russell, Arman Parvez Murad and others. The film stumbled commercially in the first week of release.

Fakhrul Arefin Khan's movie 'G-I' was released on February 7. Many movie lovers of the country were curious about the film. Because for the first time in this film, Kolkata's Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Bangladesh's legendary actress Subarna Mustafa have acted together. Although the film was released in a small number of cinema halls, it was well received.

This year, the popular film 'Bir' was released on Valentine's Day. Produced by Shakib Khan, the film was directed by Kazi Hayat. The film got good response after its release. However, the song and story of the film were accused of forgery.

'Hridoy Jure', directed by Rafiq Sikder and starring Nirab and Priyanka from Kolkata, was released on March 28. Though there was a lot of discussion about the film, it could not get a good response.

Impress Telefilm's 'Halud Bani' directed by Taher Shipon and 'Shahenshah' directed by Shamim Ahmed Rony starring Shakib Khan were released on March 6. Neither of these pictures did well.

Another movie 'Chol Jai' was released on the same date without any publicity. Directed by Masuma Rahman Tani. It runs in one or two multiplexes. Then corona infection hit in the country and all the halls were closed March 18.

On August 3, Shahriar Nazim Joy's film 'Amar Ma' was released on a private TV channel. It stars DA Tayeb and Bobby. Mukul Netrabadi's movie 'Sahasi Hero Alam' was released after cinema hall opened. Alam's film, which has gone viral on social media, has caused controversy and fell off its face in the first week of its release.

After that, the popular films of the year 'Unpanchash Batas' (October 23), 'Biswasundari' (December 11), 'Rupsha Nadir Baake' (December 11), Nawab LL.B (December 16, OTT platform) 'Gore' (Dec 25) were released one after another.

Subsequently, ‘Unpanchash Batash’ has attracted a lot of interest from the civilian audience. The film has also been acclaimed since its release. Bigger than that, the film is still running in multiple cineplexes.

Besides, the much-awaited movie 'Biswasundari' directed by Chayanika Chowdhury was released at the end of the year. The film was released in 25 theatres across the country. Although Siam and Pori Moni acted well in the film, the audience did not respond due to poor story and construction.
