The nationwide complete shutdown will end tomorrow (Wednesday). The government had enforced the strict lockdown throughout the country in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19, as the pandemic continued to claim lives. Considering the overall situation in the country, the strict restrictions have been relaxed to keep the country’s socioeconomic activities smooth.

All the government, semi-government and non-government offices, autonomous bodies, banks and financial institutions will remain open from tomorrow, following health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government. Public transports can carry passengers within their respective capacities on road, rail route and waterways. Besides, shopping malls, markets and shops will remain open every day from 10 am to 8 pm while all the industries and factories will also remain open.

We think the government has taken the right decision as it has been trying its best to do everything to face the pandemic and keep running the country’s economy. It has also reached relief and cash incentive to the poor and needy people, disbursed various stimulus packages and taken prompt health related measures.

We should encourage rural

people to take vaccines

Apart from the government, we think as a citizen of the country we all individuals have the responsibility to effectively fight the coronavirus that increased infection and death rates recently. We believe that we can be able to face the situation if all people remain careful, use mask and follow the health guidelines.  However, we fear that commuting to and from work amid packed transports and crowded places might worsen the situation as people’s movement has already started increasing in large scale.

Therefore, there is no alternative but to maintain health guidelines properly to protect ourselves and our families from the claws of the virus. It is worth mentioning that countrywide Covid-19 mass vaccination campaign continues with spontaneous participation of people for receiving vaccines from designated centers. And we believe country’s all people will be vaccinated as soon as possible. Also, local administration, public representatives, different socio-cultural organisations and volunteer groups must help rural people get vaccines and motivate them to go for Covid-19 test for their proper treatment.
