The only main road leading to Abadpukur via Adamdighi in Raninagar of Naogaon district is currently in a dilapidated condition. Large potholes have been created across the entire section of the road due to not being repaired for years.

Regular accidents are taking place on the road amid the dark of night when rain water is being accumulated in these holes.

According to the Localu Upazila Engineer's Office, this is the only major road from Abadpukur, the commercial capital of the upazila, Adamdighi as well as other parts of the country including naogaon and Bogura.

The whole section of this 8 km road from Abadpukur to Adamdighi was in a dilapidated condition earlier. However, the road to Kusambi Bazar on the boundary of Adamdighi Upazila, has been rebuilt and it is no longer dangerous for movement. Whereas, the whole road of Raninagar Upazila, which started after Kusambi Bazar, the last boundary of Adamdighi Upazila, has become unusable due to its decrepit condition.

Since the road has not been rebuilt or repaired for a long time, the condition of parts of Paril Bazar, Bagarbari Bazar, Abadpukur area is awful from Kusambi Bazar. Even though, people and vehicles can ply on the road with difficulty during the day, fatal accidents are happening at night.

Pedestrians Anshar Ali, Nehal Ahmed and many others said as the repaire work of the Abadpukur-Raninagar road has been closed for a long time; thousands of people as well as small and big vehicles have been using the Abadpukur-Adamdighi road for transportation in different parts of the country including Naogaon and Bogura.

This road is also very important as it leads to the second largest paddy market in the district, Abadpukur Hat. However, now due to the large potholes here and there on this road, easy movement has now become extremely difficult. This important road needs to be rebuilt in a long-lasting manner, the locals said.

Upazila Engineer Shah Md. Shahidul Haque said the demand for reconstruction or repair work of this road has been brought under a project and it has been sent to the higher authorities. The widening and reconstruction work of the road will be started as soon as the project is approved by the concerned department and funds are allocated.
