Locals skip Janaza of man who died with corona symptoms

Only the Dafan Committee members of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) had participated in the janaja of a man died with corona virus symptoms in a Jhenidah village on Thursday night as neither the villagers, nor the near and dear ones of the man come forward during the burial, activities. 

Rather, they had tried to bar the burial function at village Kancherkole of Shailkupa upapzila in Jhenidah. Finding no other alternative, the IFB men had furnished the janaja and burial.

Upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) in Shailkupa Dr. Rashed Al Mamun said some Anisur Rahman, son of late Abul Kashem Mia of the village had died with corona virus symptoms on Thursday evening. 

He returned from Dhaka with fever, cough, cold, headache, chest complications and died at his village home a few days back. 

IFB Jhenidah district office deputy director Abdul Hamid Khan said as per the directions of deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath, they had arranged the burial activities with the cooperation of local upazila nirbahi officer (UNO). 

The team of burial committee rushed the house accordingly and requested the villagers to render their cooperation. 

But no one from the village even his near and dear ones, respond at all. Not only that they also barred a rickshaw van peddler when he was coming forward to carry the body of Anisur Rahman. 

At last the few number of IFB men under the leadership of its field supervisor Abdur Razzaque had furnished the burial during the night of Thursday.

The villagers probably were panicked hearing e infestation of corona virus, deputy director assumed.
