Local brand registers 77 pc growth in fridge sales Walton’s target for five months surpassed

Local electronics manufacturer Walton has registered a 77 percent growth in the sales of its refrigerators and freezers from January to May, 2019 against the sales of the previous year’s corresponding period.

The local brand recorded sales of around 9.02 lakh units of fridges in the period whereas it was about 5.09 lakh units last year. The sales of fridges also exceeded the target, set by the company for the first five months of the current year, by more than one lakh units, said a statement issued by the company.

Quoting Golam Murshed, executive director and chief executive officer of Walton Fridge, it said, Walton has been securing the top position in the domestic market for the last couple of years.

Now, the total market share of Walton fridge is around 75 percent that will be increased more at the end of this year, he hoped.

Dwelling on the remarkable sales growth of Walton fridge, he said that there were several initiatives like releasing new models of energy efficient inverter and glass door frost and non-frost refrigerators, announcing 12 years guaranty on the fridge compressors, which have pushed the fridge sales to be up.

Centering the Cricket World Cup 2019, the local brand announced a special offer under its nationwide ongoing Digital Campaign Season-4. Under the offer, customers may get gold edition cricket bat-ball with the autograph of Bangladesh National Cricket Team’s ODI Captain and Walton Brand Ambassador Mashrafe Bin Mortaza or free television and various sorts of electronics or electrical appliances or sure cash vouchers up to Tk 1 lakh through registering their fridges just after the purchase from any branded outlets.

Dr. Md. Shakhawat Hossen, executive director of Marcel said, Walton is achieving remarkable growth in the sales of its fridges that are continued this year.

This year, he said, Walton set a target of selling out two million units of fridges, of which more than 9 lakh units were sold out during the first five months of the current year.

The sales will be increased sharply in the coming months centering the Eid-ul-Azha or Qurbani Eid as it is considered as the prime season for fridge sales, saying it he hoped that this year’s fridge sales target will be achieved within the Qurbani Eid.

Each and every fridges of Walton brand are marketed after receiving the QC (Quality Control) Pass certificate from the international standard testing lab NUSDAT-UTS, saying it he pointed out that several ultra-modern technologies like inverter, glass door, Nano health care, anti-fungal door gasket and so many are being used in Walton fridges.

At now, Walton is supplying 102 models of frost and 21 models of non-frost refrigerator, 12 models of freezer and 2 models of beverage cooler.

The ‘Made in Bangladesh’ labelled world-class Walton appliances are being exported to different countries of the Asian, Middle Eastern and African regions.

Now, Walton have greatly focused on exporting to the potential markets of the world’s developed nations like Australia, America and Europe.
