The local agro tools are now disappearing day by day due to modern technology. Previously, they were the only tools used for the agricultural production.

In order to accelerate the agricultural production, the current government undertook several initiatives to boost the country’s economy and reduce the food crisis by using modern technology. The modern and innovative farm machineries are changing agriculture in Bangladesh

As per the initiative, government is now fully dependent on modern technology rather than local agro tools for the agricultural production.

Earlier, farmers were depended on the plough, ladder, yoke, bulls or buffalos to cultivate the land. But now this scenario has been transformed.

According to sources, back in the day these local agro tools were found in different local markets. But now they are rarely found.  By using the different helpline and agro apps they can carry out their routine work without any problem, said many farmers.

Miftah Uddin, a farmer from Gachhbari Bazar under Kanaighat upazila, said, “Now we are cultivating the land by using modern tools. Earlier we did it by using the plough, yoke, ladder and bull which were more time consuming.” He thanked the current government for advancing agricultural technology.

Sunai Miah, a seller of local agro tools in Gachbari Bazar, said that due to the availibilty of modern technology, farmers no longer come to buy these tools.

An old man said that once upon a time one could see the hapless farmer labouring behind a wooden plough drawn by a pair of bullocks tilling the fields under the scorching sun. Putting in backbreaking labour and long hours to prepare land for harvest had not only been physically draining, but stunted the growth of agri-business in rural Bangladesh, he added.
