At the Jahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chottagram, Liton Das blasted 136 off 126 balls after losing his opening partner Tamim Iqbal and one down Shakib Al Hassan in a quick interval and accompanied by Musfiqur Rahim played the impressive innings.
After the most cherished innings of previous ODI, Liton’s another powerful batting display is highly expected tomorrow in the third and last match of the three-match series.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, appeared in the country’s cricket as a nucleus in June 10, 2015 making his debut in the Test cricket right after a week he made ODI cricket debut and put a hem on impressively.
Liton, man from Dinajpur, who got chance to get admit at the BKSP, Bangladesh’s only sports institution proving his talent where his predecessors Shakib Al Hassan, Mushfiqur Rahim and some other players were the students and later on turned into stars and national heroes also.
Liton caught sight of the selectors with his far-reaching run-scoring proficiency in school and age-group cricket at his teen-age as a young cricketer and appraised with being picked up for Bangladesh’s Under-19 side in 2012.
Liton justified the selectors’ choice with his bizarre skills in the 2012 and 2014 Under-19 World Cup when he scored a century and three fifties at an average of 51.33.
Liton, in the domestic cricket also shined when playing for Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League and Rangpur Division in the National Cricket League in the 2014-15 and could not look back to have a call-up in the national side including in the Test squad against India in 2015.
However, Liton Das, though could not trigger in the first ODI in the ongoing series when he was one off four victims among with Tamim, Mushfique and Yasir Ali of Fazal Haq Farooqi, in the very second ODI turned into his own character with staying at the crease up to 47 overs on his way to blazing 136 off 126 balls.
Liton just knocked down the Afghan’s bowling attacks featuring his 136 runs innings with 16 fours and a couple of sixes to amass a team total of 306 for four wickets which is also the highest against Afghanistan.
Now the expectation and the belief and expectation on Liton’s batting has become high whether the technically sound batter would continue his responsibility with playing a dependable innings.
