In a thriving economy like Bangladesh, both husband and wifehave to work in various organisations. Women in our country no longer remain cooped up indoors and look after their children. They now work outside as well, and therefore, well-organised daycare centres are now indispensable for looking after their children when the couple are at their workplaces.
Most of the childcare centres in our country are not properly listed and hence the government has recently taken an initiative for giving approval and registration to childcare centres. Approval and registration are going to be compulsory to establish any childcare centre.
Government can provide subsidy to these
listed daycare centres so that quality of
services gets better in every aspect.
The proposed law states that child daycare centres now under operation must register within six months of the new law being passed. Then all the child day care centres will come under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
If this law is implemented, government, semi-government, autonomous and non-governmental organisations will be able to set up and manage the designated class centres under their own management.
Given that, daycare facilities are largely absent in our country, those who are there are not properly registered and, therefore, cases of child theft often happen in many centres. This law will help put a halt to that. Government can provide subsidy to these listed daycare centres so that quality of services gets better in every aspect.
Government should also take more initiatives to build more daycare centres. It is a very common scene in our country where working mothers are bound to compromise on quitting their jobs as they put focus on upbringing of their children. Good daycare centres will help change this scenario.
