Light tremor felt in Dhaka, other areas

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 was felt in Dhaka and other districts, across the country around 10:46am on Friday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located around 23 km southeast of Sylhet, at a depth of 10 km, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

People took to social media to report the jolt all across the country.

No damage was reported at the time of filing this report.

BSS adds: A light earthquake jolted different parts of the country including capital Dhaka on Friday.

 The quake was felt around 10.46am at 4.5 degree on Richter scale, according to a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) press release.

 The quake's epicenter was Golapganj in Sylhet, approximately 202 km North-East of BMD Seismic Centre, Agargaon, Dhaka.

However, no casualty was reported.
